    Honors & AP

    Desert Academy is an International Baccalaureate World School, it does not offer AP  and traditional honors courses.  The IB program consists of the following courses: Biology (standard and higher level), Chinese (standard level), English (higher level), Film (higher level), French (standard level), History (higher level), Math (standard and higher level), Math Studies (standard level), Music (standard and higher level), Philosophy (higher level), Spanish (standard and higher level), Visual Arts (higher level), Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge

    Marking System

    Grading system is based on a 4.0 scale.  IB courses at C or better receive an additional 0.25 grade weight

    Programs of Study

    The minimum graduation requirements for grades 9 through 12 are as follows:

    English - 4 credits
    Mathematics - 4 credits
    Humanities - 3 credits
      (US History)
    Science - 3 credits
      (Biology, Chemistry & Physics)
    Foreign Language - 4 credits
      (at least 3 years in the same language)
    Electives - 7 credits

    Creativity, Action & Service (Pass/Fail) - 0.5 credit 
      (earned in junior and senior year)
    Personal Project (Pass/Fail) - 0.25 credit
      (earned in 10th grade) 

    World Languages offered: Chinese, French, Spanish

    ACT Score: Average ACT score = 28

    Athletics

    No Cut athletic policy: unlike most schools, at Desert Academy, all students who try out for a sport are not only included in the team, but they all have the opportunity to play, as well.
