    Honors & AP

    Students at the Newman School may elect to follow either the traditional curriculum or the International Baccalaureate curriculum. Students enrolled in the traditional option may however elect to take individual IB courses in place of AP courses.

    The goal of the IB progrm is to encourage students to understand subjects in depth, to think critically and to ask challenging questions.

    This academically demanding, two-year curriculum leads to final examinations and a qualification that is welcomed at top universities worldwide.

    Grades are issued twice each semester.

    For students following the traditional curriculum (not the IB program), the minimum graduation requirements for grades 9-12 are as follows:

    Modern Language - 2 credits
    Academic Electives - 5 credits

    World Languages offered: French, Italian, Latin, Spanish

    SAT Score: Average SAT Score: 1100 (new test total is 1600)
