    Honors level work includes more detailed and rigourous reading and assignments in addition to the standard level course offerings to offer a deeper understanding and scope to the materials presented. 

    Marking System

    VFMA grades on a 4.0 scale and does not rank its students.  Comprehensive grade reports are sent to parents at the end of each marking period.

    Programs of Study

    The minimum graduation requirements for grades 9 through 12 are as follows:

    English - 4 credits
    Mathematics - 4 credits
    Social Studies/History - 4 credits
    Science - 4 credits
    World Language - 2 credits
    Health - 1 credit
    Electives - 3 credits

    World Languages offered: Chinese, French, Spanish

    SAT Scores:  Average SAT score = 1050 (combined Math & Reading)

    Athletics

    Arts:

    Herald Trumpets, Regimental Band which has played for US Presidents and royalty, Regimental Choir which has performed at New York's famous Carnegie Hall and Field Music.  Individual music lessons available.

    Extracurricular Activities

    Students are encouraged to start their own interest groups. Current possibilities include Admission Ambassadors, Boy Scouts, Chess Club, Environment Club, Fencing, Paintball, Rifle Club, Student Government Association.

    Campus Features:

    The VFMA campus is in a safe, suburban neighborhood with gardens, open lawns, beautiful woods and 8 playing fields, 6 tennis courts, riding rings and stables.  Facilities include 6 dormitories, chapel, gymnasium, auditorium, dining hall, library and student center with bookstore, health center, sports center with tennis, basketball/volleyball courts and swimming pool.

    ESL

    A five week ESL Language and Leadership Summer Program is required of all new international students.  Additional ESL support is available throughout the year.
