    Special Programs

    Unique Programs: Learning & Enrichment Center combines innovative programs, individualized resources and invaluable assistance with study skills, organizational skills and time management.

    Project Exploration is a three week "mini-term" during which each student selects an interesting project that may vary from learning videography or the impact of women in media, to performing in a musical production or traveling abroad.

    Specialized Diploma Program encourages students to expand their individual strengths whether in the creative arts, as global citizens or in STEM disciplines.  Students who complete the program requirements will graduate with a special program diploma in addition to the traditional high school diploma.

    Marking System

    Advising System: Purnell School's individualized advising program is at the core of the school and a national model of excellence.  Each student meets with her faculty advisor one-on-one each week.

    Programs of Study

    The minimum graduation requirements for grades 9 through 12 are as follows:

    English - 4 credits
    History - 3 credits
    Mathematics - 3 credits
    Science - 3 credits
    Foreign Language - 2 credits
    Performing Arts - 1 credit
    Studio Arts - 1 credit

    In addition, each student must participate in a Project Exploration and a Summer Internship before senior year.
