ISES legal and privacy policy ("our site") is a site operated by International Student Education Services, Inc. (ISES), a division of INTO University Partnerships Limited and IUP 2 LLP ("we", "our", "us"). We are registered in England and Wales under company numbers 05507863 and OC376452 respectively. Our registered offices are both at One Gloucester Place, Brighton, BN1 4AA.

INTO takes your privacy seriously and treats all of your personal data that we collect from you in accordance with this Privacy Policy, along with our website terms of use (and any other documents referred to therein). This Privacy Policy explains what we do to ensure how any data we collect from you or that you provide to us will be processed by us.
Please note that our website contains links to the websites of our other group companies and affiliates and other third parties. These other parties may have their own privacy policies in place. We recommend that you check the privacy and security policies and procedures of each and every other website that you visit to ensure you understand how the data you provide is collected and how it may be processed.

1. About us

For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 as amended (the "Act"), both INTO University Partnership Limited and IUP 2 LLP ("we", "our", "us") act as data controllers in common, together with our group companies and affiliates. We are registered under the Act under numbers Z3504921 and ZA032598 respectively.

2. The information we collect

We will collect personal information about you and given by you when you submit an enquiry, request a brochure, make a direct online application for a course through one of our site forms or downloadable PDFs, when you register for one of our content services, or when you enter your details onto and when you use our site. We will collect data from you such as your name, address, date of birth and email address. If you make an application this may include details such as your education history and details about your financial status. We will use the information you provide to process your applications, to respond to your queries, to recover debt, to help us prevent fraud and keep records about your applications and enquiries.
As you move around our site we will collect information about your visit, such as which pages you visit, how often you visit and what links you click on.

This will include technical information such as internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the internet, your login information, your email address, browser type and version, operating system and platform and information about your visit such as the full Uniform Resource Locators (URL) clickstream to, through and from our site (including date and time); courses you viewed or searched for; page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), and methods used to browse away from the page and any phone number or email address used to contact our customer service number.
We may also receive information about you if you use any of the other websites we operate or if you apply for other courses we recruit for through a different medium (i.e. by printing an application and either sending it as a paper application by post or by email). In this case we will have informed you when we collected that personal data that it may be shared internally and combined with personal data collected on this site for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, including helping us to build a profile of you to get to know you better. We are also working closely with third parties (including, for example, members of our group, University and High School business partners, sub-contractors, analytics providers such as those provided by Google and search information providers) and may receive information about you from them.
We may monitor, record, store and use any telephone, email or other communication with you in order to check any instructions given to us, for training purposes, for crime prevention and to improve the quality of our customer service.
Please Note: We may use the personal data we collect about you on an anonymised basis to create statistics and anonymised information which we then share with third parties including ad networks, search engines and analytics providers in order to improve your user experience.

You are entitled to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. 3. Purposes for which we use information about you

We collect information about you for a variety of purposes. These include the following:

  • where you supply data to us in relation to educational services that we offer (for example, to enrol on a course or to obtain information about our educational programmes). Your data will be processed by us to supply the information requested by you and to process your application. Your information is held by us on secure cloud-based servers;
  • to assist us in the recovery of any unpaid amounts from you including, for example, unpaid course fees, in accordance with the relevant student terms and conditions for the course that you have applied to;
  • so that we can inform you of new offers, courses, and services which may be of interest to you;
  • so that we can assess the effectiveness of and optimise our marketing campaigns;
  • so that we can send you news and marketing items which are relevant to your interests to help us improve and personalise the services provided to you.

The personal data that we collect from you is stored on secure information technology systems located in the European Economic Area (the "EEA") which are operated by us. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this storing or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your personal data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

4. Marketing

We want to keep you informed about all our courses, promotions and news. Where you have indicated that you are happy to receive marketing by post, email, SMS or phone, we will keep in touch with you with the latest news and information about courses and services similar to those which you have already applied for.

You may also receive updates and marketing from our University partners about their courses, promotions and news, depending on the course that you have already applied for with INTO.

If you prefer not to receive promotional or marketing information from us or from selected third parties, please ensure that you tick the appropriate box when you provide us with your personal data.

You can change your mind about what marketing you receive from us at any time by contacting us at quoting your full name, address and postcode; or by writing to INTO University Partnership Limited, One, Gloucester Place, Brighton, BN1 4AA.

5. Passing on information about you

We may disclose your personal data to any member of our group (being the subsidiaries of INTO University Partnerships Limited, the ultimate holding company of INTO University Partnerships Limited and any subsidiaries of such holding company, as defined in section 1159 of the UK Companies Act 2006 and any joint ventures between any of those and another (together, "INTO University Partnerships Group")).

We may disclose your personal data to our University and High School partners where necessary to process your application and to enable the relevant University partner to contact you about future courses where you have consented to receive such information (please see section 4 of this Privacy Policy).

We may disclose your personal data:

  • to our service providers who operate elements of our site service and process personal data on our behalf. These may include businesses who provide technology services such as hosting for our servers and email distribution, website development, content management and business partners who provide delivery fulfilment services;
  • to our service providers who operate marketing campaign evaluation and optimisation services to enable us to better tailor our site and services to you;
  • to our service providers who provide analytics services, such as Google Analytics. Please see our cookies policy for further information; and
  • to our course providers for the purpose of processing your application should you make one.
    Where such disclosures are made, this will be under contractual arrangements with us and carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Act (as defined above).
    In assessing, processing and administering your course applications, we may use your personal data for the purposes of the prevention and detection of fraud. One of the purposes for which we may disclose your address and postcode details is to check against the IMRG Security Alert or any other Fraud Prevention Scheme. At all times where we disclose your personal data it will remain secure.
    We may also disclose your personal data to third parties:
  • in the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets;
  • if any member of the INTO University Partnerships Group or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by it about you may be one of the transferred assets; or
  • if we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, to assist with the prevention and detection of crime, to comply with a regulatory requirement, or in order to enforce or apply our terms of use and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of INTO University Partnerships Group, our customers, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.

6. Transferring your information abroad

Some of our University partners and third party services providers mentioned in section 5 of this Privacy Policy are based in countries outside of the EEA, and therefore your personal data may be transferred to countries outside of the EEA. We will take steps to ensure that adequate protections are in place to ensure the security of your personal data. By submitting your personal data you consent to these transfers for the purposes specified in this Privacy Policy.

7. Security

Keeping information about you secure is very important to us. However, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information that you send to us, and you do so at your own risk. At any time, we may vary the way in which we keep your information secure if we feel you will benefit from greater security whilst using our site.
We will take all reasonable precautions to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of your user data under our control. Only authorised course providers, employees, members of our group, service providers and other relevant third parties will be given access to the information you provide to us and we have appropriate security measures in place in our physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you via our site.

8. How can you access and update information which we hold about you?

9. Automated decisions taken by us about you

Assumptions are made about your interests depending on the information you have supplied us about yourself, and about the website you were visiting when you did so. For example, if you enquired about a Foundation course at University of Exeter, we assume you are interested in pre-university education in the UK. We assume you speak certain languages based on your nationality or country of residence.
